Arts and Crafts Time!

I picked up this wonderful wrapping paper at Watson Kennedy and immediately had the idea to revamp my shadow box. I absolutely love the end result!

The making of a dress.

I found this vintage Vogue pattern and I can't wait to start sewing! I love the mod shapes of the various dress patterns and I especially love the mini dress. I have it all cut out and it's ready to be sewn together. I'm hoping I'll have it done by tomorrow and will have pictures up on my blog of me actually wearing it.  Let's see what happens....

Sewing for a cause.

My lovely friends Rose and Galen have asked me for some help on a project they're doing for a worthy cause. They are part of a fashion show taking place in Portland this weekend which will help to raise money for Sisters of the Road and the Animal Sanctuary. The challenge is to use random fabrics that were donated to created a one of a kind piece to model in a fashion show which will then be auctioned off. I love fashion and I love to sew, so it was the perfect little project for me. Making a dress from scratch is a lot of work and messy!!! Here is our work in progress. I will take more photos when the dresses are all done and on their models.

Lovely presents for even lovelier moms.

It's almost Mother's Day so I hit up my old favorite, Anthropologie, to get the special moms in my life much deserved gifts.  Though I don't plan on ever having children I admire those who do and hope that all of them have a very special and relaxing Mother's Day this year.

I am obsessed with using craft paper to wrap all of my gifts.  It has such an old timey feel.  Add a little twine and some vintage buttons to the mix and "Oh my gosh!".
