Presenting No. 14 of the Mini Museum

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Ghost Gallery which happened to be featuring a petit art exhibit. There were miniature paintings, photographs and shadow boxes and as you can imagine, I was in mini heaven! I unfortunately couldn't afford to purchase one of the original pieces (though they were very modestly priced) so instead I bought a classic. I have no idea who painted this piece of the virgin and her son, but I know it's old and famous. This reproduction is only 1 3/8" x 1 7/8" making it a perfect addition to my miniature art collection.

Presenting Item No. 13 of the Mini Museum

The aforementioned Marianne asked me what I collected and I happily replied "Mini things."  She scoured her store and found the tiniest candlestick ever made.  Now if only I could find candles to fit.

Presenting Item No. 12 of the Mini Museum

What a beautiful gift I have received from my even more beautiful friend Andrew yet again. He seems to always know exactly what I like, and this little gem is no exception. The book comes from The Little Leather Library Collection based out of New York and was published in 1921. I haven't actually read the book yet, nor do I have any idea what it's about, but it sure is cute!  It is a mere 2 inches by 4 inches and it is a wonderful addition to my miniature collection. Thanks again Andrew!

So cute I could die.

My lovely friend Andrew has an amazing knack for finding the tiniest and most precious gifts for me.  Today he brought me this adorable little box that once housed little snaps for women's rain bonnets. I love it so much I don't know what to do.

Mini Art

While visiting my favorite watering hole, Vermillion, I was pleasantly surprised by art of unusually small proportions. Dioramas....check! Cute, fuzzy bunnies...check! Teeny tiny amimals...check! It was certainly a good night for me.

Presenting Item No. 11 of the Mini Museum

Oh my!  It's been quite a while since I've posted anything mini.   Well here are two adorably, teeny tiny notebooks that I got from the Etsy store The Attic Shop.  They are just perfect for jotting down a mini grocery list, or ittle bittle reminders.  I love the colors and patterns on both.  So vintage, so mini, so perfect!

Presenting Item No. 10 of the Mini Museum

I about flipped my lid when I saw this teeny, tiny, turquoise tape dispenser!!! I have always had a thing for office supplies ever since I was a little girl. In fact, one year for Christmas, what I yearned for more than anything else was an adding machine and other assorted office paraphernalia. So to find such a mini office supply is like the Holy Grail of discoveries for me. I will love it forever!

Presenting Item No. 10 of the Mini Museum

For any of you who have read the "The Saggy Baggy Elephant" you know how terribly sad it is.  It's right up there with "Dumbo" but at least in both stories there is a happy ending.  I love how this Little Golden Book is actually branded as a Little Little Golden Book because it is in fact teeny tiny.

Presenting Item No. 9 of the Mini Museum

My beautiful, talented friend Andrew also gave me this little piece of sunshine the other night.  It is a mini Webster's dictionary with 640 pages of actual words and definitions! The first word I looked up was vintage.  The first word Benjamin looked up was perverted.  Go figure!

Presenting Item No. 8 of the Mini Museum

There are no words to describe the love I have for these teeny, tiny, little Beatrix Pottter books!  My gorgeous and wonderful friend Andrew gave them as a gift last night and I just about died.  They are a whopping two inches long by an inch and a quarter wide and you can read them! And they have illustrations!  You just can't even know.

Presenting Item No. 7 of the Mini Museum

These cards are as sweet as they are old.  They belonged to my friend's grandma and I was pleased as punch when she said that I could have them. They're not as tiny as some of the things in my Mini Museum but they're still pretty small.  I just love the colors and this clown doesn't creep me out the way others do.  He seems happy and really excited for you to play a friendly game of Go Fish.

Presenting Item No. 6 of the Mini Museum

I sure wish I was tiny enough to fit in this darling chair.  I got this little, mini at a rummage sale in Bellingham, Wa.  There's just something about plastic turquoise that gets me every time.  By the way, Bellingham is one of cutest towns I ever did see and the people are the nicest!

Presenting Item No. 4 of the Mini Museum

This is the tiniest colored pencil in the whole world.  It wasn't a normal sized colored pencil that got small from frequent use, it actually just came this way..... mini and perfect.  It's starting to get a little dull at the tip so I'll have to find a teeny tiny pencil sharpener that can help my little friend out.

Presenting Item No. 3 of the Mini Museum

I've always been aesthetically drawn to typewriters but this is just ridiculous.  When my friend gave me this mini typewriter I just about peed my pants with happiness.  It's literally the same size as a penny!  I just wish they made shiny, silver ones in real life.  If you see one let me know.

Presenting Item No. 2 of the Mini Museum

This is the tiniest  diorama of a beautiful lady and a handsome gentleman enjoying a gorgeous day in a park of days gone past.  It may be my favorite piece of my mini museum not only because of its teeny tinyness but because of it's story.  I was standing outside of a record store in Capitol Hill where this 7 year old boy was having a "yard sale".  I instantly fell in love with the miniature diorama and asked him how much it cost.  He said "Twenty five dollars."  I was both shocked and impressed at the same time.  Twenty five dollars seemed a little steep to me but more importantly, I admired the boy's entrepreneurial abilities.  I told him I'd give him one dollar for it and he seemed pleased as punch.   It was the best dollar I ever did spend.

Presenting Item No. 1 of the Mini Museum

Have you ever seen anything cuter in your entire life???

Make mine a mini.

Anyone who knows me knows that I'm obsessed with mini things.  If it's tiny, I like it.  If it's teeny tiny, I love it!  So I've been collecting tiny things over the years and have even made an itsy, bitsy mini museum of sorts. Each day I will try to post an item from my collection so you can see why I think smaller is better.
